Hayes 2.5

Hayes is now officially 2.5 or is it 2.6?  Anyway, he is well on his way to being 3 and we cannot believe it!

The last several months have been so fun yet so hard at the same time.  He keeps us laughing at all he has to say and blows our mind at all he seems to know and understand.  We have to be very careful what we say and do around him these days!  Yet along with all of this, we have been going through the "terrible twos" as well!  Learning how to share has been hard, especially with a new permanent friend to share with!  But lately he has been doing SO much better.  Now he has figured out that he can actually be a part of teaching things to Charlie, which is so fun to see.

We've been trying to give him "options" instead of constantly saying "No".   So now when you ask him what he wants to do he replies, "Hmmm, what are my options?".  It's hysterical especially to people who don't know that we discuss them often at home!

Although he is definitely testing his limits, and is spending lots of time in time out, it's hard to stay mad for long at this sweet face...

As of now, he is still in his crib which he likes to jump in but weirdly never climbs out!  We are riding this out as long as we can!  He also seems to have no interest in going to the potty.  Despite our attempts to get him excited about it, he prefers to go in the play room, shut the door, and do his business while moving all the toys out from the wall to the center of the room.  We're not quite sure why he feels the need to do this.

As for the most part, he is still a great sleeper and on most days will take a good 2-3 hour nap while at home.  It's much harder for him to sleep at school with everything going on!

It has been really fun to see him really make friends the last few months as well.  He loves to talk about everyone he sees that day and what he does during the day.  He loves to sing all sorts of songs and still loves to read books.  It's amazing how he can still recall fun things that he did months and months ago.  Here he is at story time with Harper...

Hayes has also been eating much better these days.  I think he may be going through a growth spurt as well.  He is still loving his yogurt in the morning and has started to love PB&J's for lunch which is a nice break from all of the turkey and cheese!  He really likes eating Mexican and Chicken Lo Mein for dinner, too...

Here he is hard at play like always...

And still loving all of his school friends and teachers so much!

Derek and I are loving watching his little heart develop as well.  He is discovering people's feelings and how his actions can have an affect.  It is also so heart warming and worth it all when he tells us that he "loves us so much".   We love HIM so much and love watching him grow and develop each day!
