We decided to take the boys to Disney World this year! We used JK Mouse travel (a local travel agency exclusively for Disney trips) to plan a week long surprise trip to the happiest place on earth! On Sunday morning, we woke up and told the boys we were going. They were super excited and did great on the plane (for the most part!)
We stayed at the Art Of Animation hotel on Disney Property. We picked this one because they had "family suites" and the hotel was totally decked out in Disney. We arrived around 4pm, and spent some time walking around and taking pictures. Our hotel had several different sections including Little Mermaid, Lion King, Cars & Nemo. I think the kids thought that our hotel was in fact Disney World! It had huge pools, incredible theming, a playground and splash pad. We stayed in the "Nemo" building which was really cute.
We spent all day Monday at Magic Kingdom! We started our morning off at a character breakfast at the Crystal Palace. All of the "Winnie The Pooh" characters were there. Charlie was terrified at first, but slowly warmed up to them.
Since we had breakfast reservations, we were able to get into the park early! We made a beeline back to Fantasyland and were able to ride tons of rides with little to no wait. We had a minute by minute itinerary and did EVERYTHING! The boys also loved seeing the show in front of the castle with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald. Derek and I even switched off with the kids so we could ride Space Mountain! Despite my many efforts, the boys DID NOT want to have their pictures taken!!
After a long day with no naps, we had dinner reservations in Magic Kingdom at "Tony's Town Square". It was an Italian restaurant after the Lady & The Tramp movie.
Tuesday was spent at Animal Kingdom! We started our day with a Safari to see all the animals! We saw the Lion King show and the Finding Nemo show and had a character lunch at Tusker House. The boys really started to warm up to the characters this day. Charlie especially loved Chip N Dale (although he called them "Chicken Dell" :)
They had a really fun Dino Land where the boys boys enjoyed the "Boneyard" playground. Derek and I even got up enough nerve to ride "Expedition Everest"!
On Wednesday, we went to Hollywood Studios. Unfortunately this was the day when Hayes started feeling pretty bad. We spent the first half of the the day there before going back to the hotel to take naps. We went to see the Disney Junior show which both boys loved. We also had a character lunch with all the Disney Junior characters. Charlie was excited to see Jake and Hayes loved seeing the Monsters Incorporated characters!
We spent Thursday (our final day) back at Magic Kingdom! We spent the morning in Tomorrowland. The boys especially loved the Buzz Light Year Ride and the Speedway ride where they got to drive cars. After naps, we had another character dinner reservation at "Chef Mickeys" with all the main characters! Then we headed back to Magic Kingdom to re-ride some of their favorites (Buzz Lightyear, Winnie The Pooh, Small World) and catch the Fireworks!
On Friday, we ate breakfast at the hotel and then left on the Magical Express to the airport. Despite us all catching the flu, it was all in all a great trip!
