Marianna is here!

Our little girl has arrived!

Marianna Kate Bland made her debut on June 3rd, 2014 at 9:29pm.  She weighed 7.2 pounds and measured 20.5 inches long.

Tuesday morning, (June 3rd) I had dropped the boys off at their first day of summer play days at our church.  I came home with a list of things I wanted to get done but couldn't peel myself off the couch.  I was having more braxton hicks contractions than usual and felt extremely exhausted.  I finally called Derek to see if he could help me pick up the boys that afternoon.

On our way to the church, Derek suggested that I call the Dr. just to let her know what was going on. She said for me to come in and get checked because she felt I might be in early labor.  I was really skeptical but decided to go anyway.  We dropped the boys at my parents house and headed to the hospital.

When we arrived, I really didn't feel like labor was near.  However as I was being hooked up to the monitor I started to notice the braxton hicks contractions were turning into real labor contractions.  They started off pretty mild and irregular for the first hour.  The nurse came in and told me that my cervix was not progressing enough at just 2 cm to stay or be admitted.  Although they were very early contractions, I knew they were the real thing and felt frustrated that they were sending me home.

As we got in the car, my contractions started to escalate very quickly.  Derek got off on the Brentwood exit and turned around to go right back to the hospital!  Once we got there, we sat in the lobby and I drank water and ate a granola bar to make sure I wasn't just really hungry or thirsty, etc.  After about 20 minutes a nurse came out and suggested that I go back in to triage to get checked.   By the time they hooked me back up, I had dilated to a 6 cm and my water broke on the hospital bed!  At that point I was in extreme pain and begging for the epidural :)

By the time they got me checked in, up to a room and gave me an epidural I was 7/8 cm dilated.  When the doctor came in to check me after what felt like no time at all, it was already time to push!  Just 3 pushes later, she arrived!  The whole thing was so incredibly quick that we didn't really have time to tell anyone we were there!

Dr. Dunn delivered Marianna since Dr. Morgan was not on call.  She was great along with all of our nurses at Centennial.  Valerie was our delivery nurse and was fabulous!

The boys are SUPER excited that she is here!  Hayes is doing such a great job with her and Charlie has to be reminded often to be gentle :)
