Dear Hayes,
Today you are 4 years old!
We can't believe that four years ago today you made us parents!
You have grown up so much over the last year. You are tall like your daddy and so skinny we have a hard time finding clothes that fit just right! You are starting to branch out some but are still pretty particular about what you eat. You love blueberry pancakes with yogurt and blueberry muffins for breakfast, ham and apple slices for lunch, and pizza, pasta and hot dogs are your favorite dinner options!
You have recently stopped napping completely and now just have "rest time" in your room. You are a great sleeper at night and go to bed around 7:30pm each night and wake up around 7:30am in the morning. You still sleep with "mimi" and love any nighttime toy that lights up!
You are now fully potty trained and only wear pull ups at night. Your only accidents happen when you're sick or get "too busy" to remember...
Right now you are really into legos and anything you can put together. You have been obsessed with pirates this year and always want to play that you are Cubby, Charlie is Jake and I am Izzy. You have an incredible imagination and love to pretend and create new things. Recently, you even created your very own "milk machine" just like mommies!
You tell elaborate stories and love to talk All. The. Time! In fact, we got a new car with a DVD player and you told us that you would rather just talk to us instead of watching it! You are super smart and ask questions all day long and get frustrated if we don't know the answers. We are trying to teach you that even mommy and daddy don't know everything! Your teachers are blown away with your vocabulary and you continue to surprise us with what you know and understand. You have such a sweet spirit but are definitely a strong willed child. (Your daddy and I know nothing about this...) We are working specifically right now on "Obeying right away, all the way, and with a cheerful heart".
You have started to make your first friends which is so fun to see. You love to play with Lucas and Jack and loved your school friend Benjamin. However, you tell us that Charlie is your best friend which is the sweetest thing ever. You guys fight like dogs, but love each other so much. Every morning you go into Charlie's room and get in the crib and teach him songs and read him books! We are also so proud of the big brother you are to Marianna. You are so sweet and gentle with her and like to sing her songs every time she cries. You told us that you would "zap all the monsters out of her room" and hope to marry her one day! And you were really concerned about who Charlie would marry, since we only had one sister in our family...
We are so incredibly proud of you and pray each day for your health and safety and that you will come to know Jesus at a young age. We are praying that God will give us wisdom to raise you to be the boy you are meant to be!

On your fourth birthday, you woke up to a "Christmas morning-like celebration" with your presents and cake out for display. You loved opening up all your presents and blowing out the 4 candle! This year you got lots of Planes from the new movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figurines and the coordinating costume, walkie talkies, Planes Lego Duplos, and a new Tool Box with tools! On your birthday night, we went to dinner and Sweet Cici's (your favorite!)
At your 4 Year old check up with Dr. Leeper, you weighed 34 pounds, 6 ounces (30%) and measured 43.25 inches in height (97%!!)
It is such a privilege to be your parents and watch you grow each day! We love you!
